Cameron Splits with Golden Suns

LAWTON, Okla. –Cameron hosted a non-conference doubleheader against Arkansas Tech on Tuesday at McMahon Field. The Aggies would fall 1-0 in extra innings in the opener before winning the nightcap 4-3.

CU's record goes to 21-14 overall, while their record in the Lone Star Conference is 17-10, heading into a three-game series at St. Edwards, with a doubleheader on Friday, March 31, starting at 1:00 pm.

Cameron collected five hits over eight innings, with Taylor Rowley going 2-for-3, Kaiden Boren was 1-for-2 with a walk, Karis Clark was 1-for-3, and Josie Swafford had a 1-for-2 outing with a walk and a stolen base.

Swafford went the distance in the circle, striking out eight over eight innings, allowing a run on four hits.

The Aggies had runners in scoring position in the first and fourth innings but were unable to push a run in.

ATU had a leadoff double in the eighth on a ball that was blown just out of the reach of Ashlynn Bruce and Rowley down the line in left. After a sacrifice bunt and a sac fly, the Golden Suns plated the lone run of the game.

In game two, Robyn Bales pitched seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned on five hits and striking out one.

Kyndel McDaniel led the Aggies driving in all four runs and going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run, a home run, and a double. Swafford was 2-of-3 with a run, Boren went 1-for-2 with a walk and a double, Clark was 1-for-3 with a run, and Kelsye Loughman went 1-for-2 with a run, a walk, and a stolen base.

McDaniel doubled off the top of the wall in center field to drive in Loughman in the second, making it 1-0 CU.

The Golden Suns would take a 2-1 lead in the third with two runs.

In the fourth, McDaniel came to the plate unleashing a three-run home run to left to drive in Swafford and Clark to make it 4-2.

ATU rallied in the sixth to make it a one-run game, but Bales cut the rally off and was able to hold them in the seventh.
