OKLAHOMA CITY – The Cameron women's golf team finished the first round of the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational at the Lincoln Park Golf Course (East Course) in ninth place.
The Black-and-Gold turned in a first-round score of 315. As a team, CU connected on 42 pars and made six birdies. Ashley Davis and Maria Jose Savoca hit two birdies, while Maelle Dryer and Emma Englefield had one. Mollie Wheeler sunk a birdie as an individual.
Savoca led the Aggies with an opening round of 73 to sit tied for ninth. Ellie Fellers is tied for 20th after shooting a 76. Dryer is tied for 52st after recording a score of 81.
Englefield had an opening round score of 85, tying for 72nd, and Davis is tied for 78th after turning in a scorecard of 87.
Henderson State has a 12-stroke lead at the end of day one after shooting -1, and Gracen Blount of HSU holds the top spot after shooting a 68, one shot better than Sidnet Stramel of UAFS.
Cameron will start teeing off at 8:08 am from the first hole, while Wheeler is paired to begin on the 10th hole at 8:32 am.
