TYLER, Texas – The Cameron baseball team fell in the matinee with UT Tyler on Monday at Irwin Field.
Trent Mallonee was 2-for-4 with a stolen base, Jayce Clem was 1-for-3, Drew Durst went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, Kai Hershberger was 1-of-3, Hunter Smith had a 1-for-3 game, and Beau Williams went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Durst started for the Aggies allowing six runs on three hits. Clayton McClenan faced four batters, giving up four runs on a hit. Jacob Acheson threw 0.2 innings, surrendering six runs on three hits. Colton Popp threw 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two. Evan Nichols pitched 1.2 innings, surrendering two runs on two hits with two strikeouts. Carter Bourg threw an inning, giving up a hit and striking out one.
The first inning ended up being something CU wished they could forget, as the Patriots sent 18 batters to the plate and scored 14 runs.
In the second, Tyler would add two runs.
The Pats added two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth before closing it out with a 20-0 win.
Cameron returns to Lawton as they will host Arkansas-Fort Smith in a four-game series starting on Friday at 4:00 pm.
