Cameron Beats ASU Twice, French Reaches Rare Feat

LAWTON, Okla. – After two starts Friday, Kylie French has now played in 200 career games, as Cameron takes two games from Angelo State at McMahon Field on Friday, winning the first 4-1 before taking game two 5-2.

In game one, Taylor Rowley and Josie Swafford went 2-for-3 with a run. Kaiden Boren was 1-of-3 with two RBI, a run, and a home run. Khmari Edwards had a 1-for-3 game with a run, a double, and a walk, Kyndel McDaniel went 1-for-2, and Mikayla Richmond was 1-for-2 with two RBI and a walk.


Robyn Bales threw seven innings, allowing a run on three hits while striking out four Belles to win her 11th game of the season.


The Aggies took a two-run lead in the first off one swing from Boren, as she hit a two-run home run to right-center that drove in
Edwards.

CU doubled their lead to 4-0 in the fourth when they loaded the bases, then Richmond slapped a single off the pitcher's glove to drive in Rowley and Swafford, who scored on the heads-up play.

ASU got a run in the fifth to make it 4-1.


French would reach her 200th career game in the back half of the doubleheader, in which she went 2-for-4 with two runs, a run, and a home run. Boren was 3-of-4 with two doubles and a run, Swafford went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run, and a double, Rowley had a 2-for-4 outing with a run, an RBI and a stolen base, Maci McMurtrey went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two doubles, and Edwards was 1-for-4.


Jocelyn Bright improved to 7-1 with a complete game, striking out for Rambelles and giving up two runs on four hits.


Just as they did in game one the Aggies took a 2-0 lead in the first, this time it was a two-run single up the middle from Swafford that scored French and Boren.


Angelo scored a run in the fifth.


In the bottom half, French started the scoring with a solo home run to left, Rowley drove in Swafford with a single to the shortstop, and Rowley and Ashlynn Bruce came in to score of a double from McMurtrey.


In the seventh the Belles got a run to make it 5-2.


Cameron will look to complete the series with three wins on Saturday at McMahon Field at 1:00 pm. Before the start of the game, we will honor the seniors.
