Aggies Take Two From International

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron won their 20th Lone Star Conference game with two wins over Texas A&M International on Thursday at McMahon Field. The Aggies won 1-0 and 4-1 behind two excellent pitching performances by Josie Swafford and Robyn Bales.

The Black-and-Gold improves to 24-16 overall and 20-12 in the LSC. CU and the Dustdevils will conclude the series with the final game at 1:00 pm on Friday.

Swafford threw seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out five.

Cameron was held to three hits in the opener, but that was more than enough. Ashlynn Bruce went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Karis Clark was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, and Kelsye Loughman had a 1-for-2 game with a run and a walk.

In the bottom of the second, Loughman started a two-out rally with a single back up the middle, followed by a triple into the corner in right from Bruce.

In game two, the Aggies built a 3-0 lead in the first, and Bales did the rest. She allowed a run on four hits while setting down eight Dustdevils.

Taylor Rowley led the Black-and-Gold, going 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and a home run. Kaiden Boren was 1-for-3 with two runs, a double, and a stolen base, Bruce was 1-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base, Clark was 1-for-3 with a stolen base, Kyndel McDaniel was 1-for-3, and Mikayla Richmond went 1-for-2.

Rowley got things started with a solo home run to left, Boren scored off a TAMIU error, and McDaniel flared a single over the head of the first baseman to plate Swafford building a 3-0 lead after one.

In the second, International got a run off a solo home run to cut it to 3-1.

The final run was on a successful double steal, with Boren scoring to make the final score 4-1.
