Uspenskaia and Goessel #2 in ITA National Rankings

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released their fall singles and doubles rankings for Division II tennis. Leading for the Aggies is the women's doubles team of Anastasia Uspenskaia and Jenna Goessel ranked #2 after winning the ITA South Central Regional Championship and making their way to the semi-finals of the ITA Cup in Rome, GA. Asked about the rankings, Uspenskaia states "It is the highest I've ever been ranked in doubles, and it's a pleasure to do it with Jenna. It's a great place to start going into the spring season and we are excited to work to get even better!" Goessel and Uspenskaia are the top ranked Lone Star Conference doubles team of five that are ranked in the top 20 nationally. Coach Cobble states "The Lone Star Conference is among the strongest in the nation particularly in women's tennis. We had five doubles teams in the top 20 teams nationally and two singles players in the top 10. The level and depth of the conference is extremely high, and all of the top teams are extremely close competitively". Kateryna Rudenko also made a repeat appearance in the fall nationally rankings with a ranking of #29. "It's a unique experience for me to be ranked 29th across the country, especially as a senior. I have grown and worked hard over the fall and now I want to make this final chapter a time to remember for the spring season" states Rudenko.

The men missed out on the national rankings the fall but were represented well regionally. "The men's ITA regional was especially tight this year and that was demonstrated in the rankings this year. There are many new names making appearances in the list after the fall with many close matches that paper were upsets, but that just shows how close the level is among all the top players. It will be an exciting spring of tennis in the LSC" comments Coach Josh Cobble regarding the men's rankings. Returning LSC Freshman of the Year, Louis Boilevin caps off the fall with a #7 South Central Regional singles ranking. Rhys Edwards makes an appearance in the regional rankings both in the singles at #18 and #7 in doubles with partner Vicente Preto. The tennis teams have wrapped up competition for the fall and will be looking to capitalize on the successes of the fall in their pursuit of the LSC championships.
