Cameron Women's Basketball Falls Short to West Texas A&M

Canyon, TX – The Cameron Aggies faced a tough challenge on Thursday night, falling 79-58 to the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs at the First United Bank Center. Despite a promising start, the Aggies couldn't overcome West Texas A&M's balanced attack and second-half dominance.

The Aggies (2-3, 0-1 Lone Star) started strong, matching their opponents in the first quarter with a 20-point effort and staying competitive through halftime, trailing only 37-32. Guard Grace Alverson led the charge early, hitting three three-pointers and finishing with 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals.

The Aggies were out-rebounded 51-35, allowing 13 offensive boards that resulted in 10 second-chance points for the home team. Despite the loss, forward Aubrie MeGehee had an impressive outing for Cameron, scoring 10 points and grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Kloe Heidebrecht added 11 points off the bench, showcasing the depth of the Aggies' roster.

The loss drops Cameron to 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. The Aggies will look to bounce back when they return to action on December 7th at Eastern New Mexico at 2 pm CT.
