Former Aggie Basketball Player, Jaylan Thomas Signs With BC Moik Baku

Lawton, OK - Jaylan Thomas, a 2023-2024 Cameron University graduate and former Aggies basketball player, has taken a giant leap in his athletic career by signing a professional contract with BC MOIK Baku in Azerbaijan's top division league. For Jaylan, a Tulsa, Oklahoma native, this achievement is the culmination of years of dedication, hard work, and perseverance, both on and off the court.

Jaylan began his basketball journey at Tulsa Central High School, where his talent quickly caught the attention of many. As a senior in 2019, he was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association's All-State Team, solidifying his status as one of the top high school players in the state. His next move was crucial, and he chose to continue his basketball career at Murray State College under the guidance of Coach Kevin O'Connor, who is now Cameron's head coach.

At Murray State, Jaylan thrived. His sophomore season earned him Second Team All- Region 2, showcasing his potential to take his game to the next level. After two seasons at Murray, Jaylan made the jump to Division I basketball, choosing to attend Arkansas-Pine Bluff. However, fate would soon bring him back to a familiar face. Jaylan decided to reunite with Coach O'Connor at Cameron University for his final two years of eligibility, a decision that proved to be a perfect fit. His time with the Aggies allowed him to not only grow as a player but to also take on a leadership role within the team. In his senior year, Jaylan was recognized for his outstanding play, earning Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honors.

Now, with his signing at BC MOIK Baku, Jaylan embarks on a new chapter in his basketball journey. Azerbaijan's top division league will provide him with the opportunity to compete at a high level and showcase his skills on an international stage. His path from Tulsa to Murray State, to Cameron, and now to professional basketball is a testament to his determination and resilience. "I've always believed in hard work and taking the opportunities that come my way," said Jaylan. "Coach O'Connor has been a huge part of my development as a player, and I'm excited for what the future holds in Azerbaijan."

As Jaylan embarks on this exciting new chapter, the Cameron Aggies community will undoubtedly be cheering him on every step of the way.
