Wichita Falls, TX -The Aggie women's cross country team turned in an impressive performance at the Mustang Derby, securing a third-place team finish out of eight.
Leading the charge,
Akaya Lightbourne claimed a top-three finish, placing 3rd overall with a time of 14:43.3. She was followed closely by
Marie Sommer, who finished 7th (14:57.4), and
Kaat De Staercke, right behind in 8th (14:58.1), giving the Aggies three runners inside the top ten.
The depth of the squad was
Tamica Jooste crossed the line in 28th (16:15.7),
Gracie Ortiz in 31st (16:24.5), Noa Garcia, in 34th (16:38.9), and
Helene Krome in 35th (16:48.4).
Rounding out the Aggie lineup,
Terrionna Taylor finished 37th (17:08.1),
Evalynn Pedroza 38th (17:24.8),
Mireia Planesas 48th (18:10.3), and
Jodi-Ann Graham 57th (18:44.9).
The Aggies will return to competition on September 26 when they host their second home meet of the season.
