Volleyball Battles but Falls to Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. - The Cameron University volleyball team squared off against Southern Nazarene on Tuesday night in one of the final conference games before LSC play commences.

The Aggies (3-7, 0-0 LSC) battled the Crimson Storm closely, reaching 20 points in two of the three sets, but fell 0-3 to SNU.

SNU gained control early in the first set, holding an 8-15 lead and maintaining the advantage through the rest of the set. The Aggies made a late charge with a 5-1 run, but the Crimson Storm put the set away, 21-25.

The Aggies and the Crimson Storm traded the lead multiple times in the early stages of the second set up to a 17-17 tie, but SNU pulled away with an 8-1 run to take set two, 18-25.

The teams once again went back-and-forth in set three, with the Aggies pulling ahead to a 16-13 lead thanks to a 6-1 run. The Crimson Storm responded with a 7-2 run and closed out both the set and the match with a 5-4 advantage, 22-25.

Anastasija Andelic powered the Aggie attack once again with a team-leading eight kills on a .368 attacking percentage. She also led the team in digs with 12. 

Kayla Quintana led the squad in assists, tallying 14, while Rachael White gathered nine assists of her own. Presleigh Roest chalked up a total of 3.0 blocks on the night while Jennifer Valdez and Haley Beggs both grabbed 2.0.

The Aggies continue their road stint as they take on UT Dallas and St. Edward's in non-conference play, traveling to Austin, TX for the LSC Challenge. Cameron will take on UT Dallas on Sept. 19 at 6 PM and St. Edward's on Sept. 20 at 1 PM.
