AUSTIN, Texas - The Cameron University volleyball team closed the LSC Challenge at 1-1 after dropping their final match of the weekend to St. Edward's, 0-3.
The Aggies (4-8, 0-0 LSC) will open conference play next weekend as they take on UT Tyler and a rematch against UT Dallas.
Both squads battled in set one, with the Aggies keeping SEU within three and taking the lead halfway through the set, but the Hilltoppers pulled away near the end, 18-25.
Set two saw both teams trade runs before the Hilltoppers closed the set with a 4-1 run after the two teams were tied at 21-21.
A similar story played out in set three, with the Aggies and the Hilltoppers trading runs in the opening portions of the set. However, an 8-2 run proved too much for the Aggies to overcome as SEU took the set, 19-25.
Hailey Baker and
Anastasija Andelic both tied for the team lead offensively with six kills each, while
Presleigh Roest and
Maria Osorio trailed just behind with five.
Kayla Quintana tallied a team-leading 14 assists in the three sets.
Defensively, Andelic led in digs with a total of 13, and Roest grabbed 4.0 blocks on the afternoon.
