TYLER, Texas - The Cameron University volleyball team opened the Lone Star Conference schedule on Friday night against UT Tyler, falling to the Patriots in the conference opener, 0-3.
The Aggies (4-9, 0-1 LSC) have played eight consecutive road games, going 3-5 in that span.
UT Tyler took the match in straight sets. The Aggies gave UTT a fight in set one, holding the Patriots to just a 14-15 lead halfway through the set, but the Patriots pulled away to take set one, 18-25.
Set two saw the Aggies fight back from another early deficit, but they could not get within striking distance of UTT, 16-25. The Patriots led nearly wire-to-wire in set three after a 1-1 one tie, taking the set and the match, 11-25.
Hailey Baker and
Jennifer Valdez led the team on the attack, both tallying six kills on the match.
Rachael White and
Kayla Quintana were near neck and neck in assists with 12 and 11, respectively. Defensively,
Addison McClure led the squad in digs with a total of 10 while
Presleigh Roest grabbed two solo blocks in the contest.
