LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University women's cross country team put together a solid performance on Friday morning at the Cameron Invitational, finishing tied for first place with Amarillo College, highlighted by multiple top-five finishes.
The Aggies finished one-two with Marie Sommer taking the gold, finishing with a time of 18:52.71. She was closely followed by Akaya Lightbourne who secured second place with a 18:59.01. Gracie Ortiz rounded out the top five finishes, bringing home fourth as she clocked a time of 19:54.58.
Rounding out the Aggies' scoring were Noa Garcia-Mejias, who finished 15th in 21:04.76, and Evalynn Pedroza, crossing the line 16th in 21:21.31.
The Aggie women will continue their season on Saturday, October 11, when they travel to Dallas, TX to compete at the DBU Old Glory Gallop.
