LAWTON, Okla.  – The Cameron University women's cross country team opened their 2025 season in familiar territory on Friday morning, hosting the Aggie Duels at the Big Green Soccer Complex.

The Aggies placed fourth in the team standings with 110 points, facing strong competition including West Texas A&M and East Central.

Sophomore Kaat De Staercke and Graduate Marie Sommer led the way for Cameron, both finishing inside the top 10 in a competitive 5K field. De Staercke placed seventh with a time of 18:58.50, while Sommer followed closely in ninth, clocking 19:02.90. The pair helped Cameron stay within striking distance of third-place Midwestern State.

Cameron's pack continued with Helene Krome finishing 29th in 20:10.78, followed by Gracie Ortiz in 31st at 20:17.54. Sophomore Noa Garcia-Mejias finished with a time of 21:04.60, placing 42nd overall.

Rounding out the top seven for the Aggies were Tamica Jooste (49th, 21:19.77), Terrionna Taylor (59th, 22:05.28),Mireia Planesas (71st, 23:16.74) and Senior Evalynn Pedroza (72nd, 23:34.07).

West Texas A&M claimed the first place with a perfect score of 15 points, followed by East Central (60), Midwestern State (76), and Cameron (110).

The Aggies return to action this Thursday as they continue their early-season progression at the Midwestern State Mustang Stamped, hosted at Midwestern State in Wichita Fall, TX.
