Men's Basketball Comes Up Short to Sul Ross State University; 72-71

Alpine, Texas - The Cameron University men's basketball team lost a close one to Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon. The Cameron Aggies opened Saturday's game strong, jumping out to a 10-0 run lead in the first five minutes. Sul Ross State answered for the Lobos with timely three-point shooting to cut into the lead. Late in the first half, a full-court pass from Arzhonte Dallas to Thomas Tangle set up a basket by Micheal Jones to give Cameron a brief edge before Sul Ross tied the game with a three-pointer at the half. The Lobos opened the second half with a 10-0 run, but the Aggies responded with perimeter shooting from Tangle and strong inside play from Jones to even the score. The game came down to the final possession, where the Aggies missed a last-second shot from Michael Jones, allowing the Lobos to secure their first conference game win.

  • Michael Jones would lead all scorers with 24 points, as well as adding 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block. 
  • Thomas Tangle also had a game by adding 23 points to the board, along with 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block.
  • Arzhonte Dallas contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
