LAWTON, Okla. — Cameron Women's tennis took down the University of Texas Permian Basin, 6-1, on Monday afternoon at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex in a Lone Star Conference match.
In doubles play, the Aggies struck first with a 6-1 victory from Jenna Goessel and Nil Kalkavan on the No. 1 court. Adel Ismagulova and Isabella Quintero followed up with a 6-2 win on the No. 2 court to clinch the doubles point for Cameron. Alexa Garcia and Daniela Maldonado secured the sweep on the No. 3 court, winning 6-4.
In singles play, Jenna Goessel put Cameron up 2-0 in the match with a straight-set win on the No. 1 court. On the No. 3 court, Alexa Garcia picked up a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Sophia Rashid. Freshman Daniela Maldonado clinched the match for the Aggies after defeating Mattea Bowe 6-4, 6-2 on the No. 4 court. On the No. 2 court, Adel Ismagulova earned a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 victory. Alexa Lugo grabbed a 6-2, 6-1 win on the No. 6 court over Alysaa Glasgow. To wrap up the match, Nil Kalkavan fell in a third-set supertiebreaker on the No. 5 court to make the match 6-1 in Cameron's favor.
