Ennis, TX - The Cameron University Men's tennis team dropped a close match to the University of Texas at Tyler in the Lone Star Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon, 4-3.
In doubles play. UT Tyler's Samuel Antwi and Trevor Short defeated Tom Debonne and Zoheir Fardoun, 6-2, on the No. 3 court to take the first doubles court. Cameron evened up the doubles point after No. 7-ranked Lukas Janousek and Noe Milliard earned a 7-5 win on the No. 1 court. The Aggies clinched the doubles point after Santiago Ledesma and Abubakari-Yakubu-Lea went to a tiebreaker and earned the 7-6 (7-5) victory.
In singles play, UT Tyler took the first singles point after No. 12-ranked Samuel Antwi defeated Martin Hlavacek, 6-4, 6-4, on the No. 4 court. No. 7-ranked Lukas Janousek put Cameron ahead 2-1 in the match after defeating No. 38-ranked Artiom Dorofeev, 7-5, 6-1, on the No. 1 court. The Patriots evened up the match at 2-2 after No. 50 Carel Wessel won on the No. 2 court against Noe Milliard, 6-2, 6-3. No. 19-ranked Malo Poulesquen defeated Santiago Ledesma in a close three-set match on the No. 3 court, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.
The Aggies tied the match at 3-3 after Ulysse Esphahani picked up a three-set victory on the No. 6 court over Jordi Garcia Portell, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1. To wrap up the back-and-forth match, UT Tyler clinched the match after Daniil Felker won in three sets against Tom Debonne on the No. 5 court, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
