WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Cameron University Men's and Women's tennis teams wrapped up tournament action at Midwestern State University, competing against strong NCAA Division II competition. The Aggies faced a competitive field featuring nationally ranked Washburn University, whose women's team finished 2026 ranked No. 16 and men's team No. 10, along with host Midwestern State, ranked No. 29 on the women's side and No. 32 on the men's side. St. Mary's University also participated in both the men's and women's competitions. The tournament provided Cameron with an opportunity to compete against nationally recognized programs and gain valuable experience ahead of the ITA Regional Championships.
In doubles action, Tom Debonne and Zoheir Fardoun reached the final but fell to Midwestern State's Bruno Sanchez and Filip Vacula, 6-2. Lukas Holub and Andres Serrano also reached the semifinal round, where they fell to Bruno Sanchez and Filip Vacula 6-3.
In singles competition, Lukas Holub earned a spot in the semifinals but fell to No. 34-ranked Bruno Sanchez. Abubakari Yakubu-Lea also made a semifinal appearance before falling to No. 47-ranked Kilian Martinez. On the women's side, Alexa Garcia lost to St. Mary's Transfer Ilona Hernanez Sanchez 6-3, 7-5 in the semi-finals after defeating Washburn 2025 All American Daniela Tijaro 3-6, 6-0, 11-9. Sofia Karlau earned an impressive victory over No. 55-ranked Riko Konno, securing a nationally ranked win for the Aggies.

The Aggies will travel to Tyler, Texas, to compete in the ITA Regional Championships October 22-25, where they will play for an opportunity to qualify for the ITA National Championships.
