Josh Barnett joins the Aggie baseball coach staff in 2014 but he is no stranger to the CU program.
In 2009 he helped the Aggies to a 42-14 overall record and a Lone Star Conference Championship and is fifth all-time at CU with 137 runs scored in two seasons.
Shortly after graduating from Cameron in 2009, Barnett signed with the Southern Illinois Miners, a Frontier League organization in Marion, Ill.
Barnett returned to Cameron after spending the 2014 season at Sul Ross University.
While with the Lobos, they saw a six win improvement under Barnett's guidance along with eight All-Conference honors, and the league's player of the year. Lobo hitters also saw an over 20% increase in run production compared to the 2013 season.
In 2013 Barnett, played for the Santa Fe Fuego where he was named a Pecos League All-Star and participated in the league's Home Run Derby. Additionally, he led the Pecos League in stolen bases and runs scored.
Barnett spent 2010 as an assistant coach at Wharton County Junior College; at Wharton, Barnett was responsible for outfield play, base running, strength and conditioning, and assisted with recruiting Texas and Oklahoma. In the summer months, Barnett managed the Burkburnett Blacksox college preparatory program in the summer as a hitting and outfield coach.
