LAWTON, Okla. – Senior Amber Schroer had seven assisted blocks and freshman Megan Olivarez led the match with 13 kills, but it wasn’t enough Tuesday night, as the Aggies fell to Oklahoma City in four games (16-25, 25-17, 19-25, 16-25).
Cameron (7-10) jumped on top in set one 11-9 on a kill by junior Sarah Corbett, but a 10-0 run by OCU (12-5) put the game out of reach. The Aggies ended the run on another Corbett kill, as she closed the contest with eight.
Quickly jumping out on top in the second set, Cameron was led by juniors Adrienne Lawson and Amanda Filiaga, who combined for six of the teams 11 kills. The Aggies doubled (18-9) up their lead and never looked back on a freshman Mariah Westlake service ace.
During the third set, Cameron and OCU battled back and forth before a 5-0 run by the Stars gave them a 19-14 edge. The Aggies got the game back within two (21-19), but a 4-0 run ended Cameron’s chance for a come-back.
In the fourth set, Olivarez had five kills, while Lawson and Filiaga each helped the defense with two assisted blocks. However, for Cameron, OCU hit .312 and had 14 kills in the fourth set to put little doubt in the final game.
Cameron’s next action is Thursday at Lone Star Conference front-runner West Texas A&M and again Saturday at Eastern New Mexico.
