Box Score Broken Arrow, Okla. (Nov. 15, 2011) ¬¬— Cameron traveled to Northern Oklahoma Tuesday night to take on Rhema Bible College. The Aggies left victorious, claiming the “W” 72-40.
Cameron (2-0, 0-0) pulled ahead early and rolled into halftime with a 41-13 lead. From there, Head Coach Wade Alexander said the team got a little too comfortable and allowed the Eagles to cut into its lead. But in the end, the early deficit proved too much.
“We came out clicking pretty well and played good defense early,” Alexander said. “We just got up so much we let our guard down in the second half. Overall though, it was a good game for us.”
Coming into the game, Alexander said he wanted his team to focus on bottling up their opponent defensively.
“We weren’t too worried about our offense,” he said. “We wanted to stop them defensively. I felt we did that. We only allowed 13 points in first.”
Junior Vinicius Telo led the team offensively with 15, followed by junior Devon Crabtree. Telo and freshman Andrew “Grenada” Thomas led the team on the glass with 8. While his team performed well, there was one area Alexander said they need to focus on.
“We’ve got to continue to improve on turnovers,” he said. “We had 18. We’re having way too many.”
The team will return to action Friday at 5 p.m. in Stephenville, Texas, taking on Washburn as a part of the TSU Classic.
