OKLAHOMA CITY – The Cameron Aggies men’s tennis squad (6-1) posted their third consecutive 9-0 sweep as they downed Cowley College in Oklahoma City on Monday.
Cowley College came into the match ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA rankings.
Patrick Eichler and
Santiago Romero won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles while
Duje Janjic and
Thomas Peixoto posted another 8-4 at No. 2.
Manuel Barroetavena and
Mateus Campos kept it going with an 8-4 at No. 3.
In singles action, Eichler added the first point with a 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4) victory at No. 1 while Romero posted a 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 victory at No. 2.
Peixoto needed a tiebreaker to get the point at No. 3, 6-0, 3-6, 10-6. At No. 4, Barroetavena grabbed his point in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 as did Janjic , 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5.
To close the sweep out,
Nicolas Clerc posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
The Aggies return to the court on March 4 for their home opener when they play host to Colorado State Pueblo and Lone Star Conference foe East Central. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
