The No. 18 Aggie women’s tennis team fell 5-4 to the No. 20 University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos (UCO) on Wednesday. It was a regional upset for the CU as they are ranked No. 2, while UCO sits at No. 9
The No. 14 doubles tandem of Amanda Moberg and Julia Puckhaber picked up the lone doubles win for the Aggies after dropping Julia Schviadok and Elizabeta Abramovic 8-6.
The pair carried their winning momentum into singles play, with both women earning straight sets victories over their opponents at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots.
Florencia Tornero also recorded a win for CU. After losing the first set in a close tiebreaker, she fought back to take the next two 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 6 position.
The Aggies, however, were unable to clench victories at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots, giving the Bronchos the win.
The Black and Gold will compete against St. Mary’s tomorrow. That match will begin at 11 a.m.
