The Cameron tennis teams were both in action on their home courts on Friday. The men defeated the St. Mary’s Rattlers 9-0 in a night session match, improving their record to 15-3.
CU went up 3-0 after taking all of the doubles matches.
The team of Thomas Peixoto and Patrick Eichler beat their opponents 8-4 at No. 2, while the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs both secured 8-2 victories.
In singles play, the Aggies steamrolled past the Rattlers.
Duje Janjic and Jorge Gerosi had identical results at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots. The sophomores breezed through their matches, recording 6-1, 6-2 decisions.
Freshman Nicolas Clerc continued his perfect season by dismissing his counterpart at the No. 6 position 6-0, 6-3.
CU also picked up wins at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 slots.
The women competed earlier in the day, but were not as dominate as the men and suffered an 8-1 defeat to NAIA No. 5 Oklahoma Christian.
The Aggies were dealt losses at all three doubles positions, two of those coming from nationally ranked pairs.
Julia Puckhaber claimed the Aggies lone singles victory. The German took out her No. 17 opponent 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 in an intense battle at the No. 2 slot.
Amanda Moberg fought hard, but fell to No. 5 Hermon Brhane 7-6(4), 6-3 at No. 1.
After taking the first set in a tie break, Sara Londono’s No. 27 counterpart proved too much to handle as the Aggie was defeated 6-7, 6-3, 10-2.
The women will play again on the CU courts at 9 a.m. tomorrow when the square off against Northeastern Oklahoma State.
