The No. 19 Cameron men’s tennis team suffered a rough loss on Monday, losing 5-4 to the Seminole State Trojans. The Trojans are ranked first in the NCJAA Division I standings.

In doubles play, the Aggies only produced a win at one of the three positions. Thomas Peixoto and Patrick Eichler topped Oliver Anderson and Corey Huggins 8-5 at the No. 2 slot.

Peixoto carried his winning momentum into his No. 2 singles match and defeated Admire Mushonga 7-5, 7-6.

Manuel Barroetavena came away with a win for the Aggies as well. The sophomore dispatched Anderson 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot.

Nicolas Clerc completed the regular season with a perfect 20-0 record by clenching a victory at the No. 4 position over Seminole’s Jason Blakely-Miller.

Eichler and Duje Janjic both fell in close three set decisions to the Trojans. Eichler lost 5-7, 6-4, 12-10 at No. 6, while Janjic was beaten 2-6, 6-4, 12-10 at the No. 5 slot.

The CU men hold an 18-7 overall record and only dropped two conferences matches on the season.

Both Aggie teams are now gearing up for the Lone Star Conference Tournament, which will be held April 22-23 in Oklahoma City.
