WICHITA FALLS, Texas—Cameron University men’s and women’s tennis teams participated in the Midwestern State University Individual Tournament over the weekend, and both teams came away with excellent results.

Aggie newcomer Nicolai Ferrigno showed off his talent by winning the Flight Two bracket without dropping a set. In the final, he easily took out his counterpart in 6-1, 6-4.

Cameron’s Mateus Campos and Angelo Lencioni marched their way to the finals in their respective flights, but both fell to their opponents in tight matches.

In doubles play, CU partners Thomas Peixoto and Duje Janjic clenched the doubles title by defeating MSU’s Rory de Boer and Jarrod Liston in the championship match.

On the women’s side, sophomore Florencia Tornero and senior Sara Londono lost in the finals of their respective flights, while Amanda Moberg, Julia Puckhaber and Elvira Sholles all picked up consolation wins.

The doubles duo of Moberg and Puckhaber made it to the doubles final, but fell to an impressive pair from Tyler Junior College.

Both Aggie teams will travel Sept. 30-Oct. 2 to Springfield, Mo. to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Regional Championships.
