Box Score
Cameron fell behind quick in the first set and could never quite mount a comeback and lost the set 25-9.
The Aggies came back stronger in the second set and started out with a 6-1 run but the TexAnns countered with a run of their own and evened the score at 8. From then on the lead was back and forth until 25-25 when TSU went on a 3-1 run to win the set 28-26.Â
Cameron carried their momentum and confidence they had built in set two and came out firing with a 10-6 run. The teams traded rallies until Cameron had a five point rally that put them ahead for good. The Aggies won set three 25-19.
In set four, Cameron stayed with the TexAnns until TSU went on a 9-1 run that put the Aggies down big.  Cameron fought hard but could not hold of the TexAnn attack; CU lost set four 25-14.
"The first set was disastrous, and I'm not sure why we played so poorly in the first set," said head coach Doug Tabbert. "Second set we cleaned some things up, stopped making some of the errors we had been making and they started making a few more errors too. We just competed better and took care of the ball better offensively, our defense got better and we just worked harder at it."
"The third set was the best we have played in a while. We took care of the ball, defended well, and gave them some trouble with our serving game," said Tabbert. "We just made some plays and put it all together. They certainly brought a challenge, they were pretty physical but we went toe to toe with them down some stretches. We just got to learn to finish better."
Statistically, Kathryn Evans led the team in kills with 12 and Jenna Risoli lead in assists with 29. Julisa Ocasio and Erin Hardy had double-digit dig numbers; Ocasio with 32 and Hardy with 17.
The next match for the Aggies will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm, at Aggie gym, against Angelo State.
