KINGSVILLE, Texas – The No. 14 Cameron University women’s tennis team swept the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas this afternoon in an extraordinary 9-0 decision, amazingly dropping a mere total of two games. Today’s contest marked the first Lone Star Conference action for the Aggies and allowed them to improve their overall record to 12-2.
The women got started by earning commanding wins at all three doubles positions. The No. 25 pair of Amanda Moberg and Julia Puckhaber collected an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 slot. Sara Londono and Florencia Tornero took hold of an identical win at the No. 2 spot, while Elvira Sholles and Antonia Moberg secured an impressive 8-0 decision at the No. 3 position.
All of the Black and Gold women would go on to double bagel their opponents in singles play, with the exception of Amanda Moberg. She was on her way to a double bagel win, but her counterpart retired in the second set with the Swede up 6-0, 1-0.
The women will look to continue their exceptional form tomorrow when they take to the courts against conference foe Incarnate Word at 1 p.m. on the Cardinals’ home courts in San Antonio.
