Match Notes

First Serve
Despite a straight set loss to #6 West Texas on Tuesday, the Aggies improved this past weekend. In the 1-3 loss to #17 Angelo State, CU hit over .200 for the first two sets, and out-blocked the Rambelles nine to two. In the five set thriller against Tarleton, Cameron hit above .300 in the first, second and, third sets. If it weren't for a couple of long rallies both ASU and TSU, each match could have gone the way of the Aggies. CU got stellar play from the LSC Offensive Player of the Week, Kelle Carver, who had a total of 57 kills and a .293 hitting percentage over the last three matches. Kayla Hebert also gave the Aggies some good play, averaging a double double with 42.7 assists and 16 digs per game over the three game home stretch.

In the 42 game series between Cameron and TWU, the Pioneers have a three game advantage, leading the series 20-23. Texas Woman's has swept the past four matches against the Aggies, including the one on Sept. 28 at the Aggie Gym.

The Pioneers are 16-8 on the season with a 6-5 LSC mark, which has them in third place in the conference standings. Alves is also second in the LSC with 1.23 blocks per game. The use a two setter rotation, with Kimberly Bell and Kayla Rivero both averaging about five assists per set. Morgan Rivero leads the team and is fourth in the LSC with 4.52 digs per set.

Scouting Texas A&M-Commerce
In a series that sees Cameron on top of the Lions 23-19, the Aggies have had the upper hand, going 7-3 in the last 10 meetings, but earlier this season, it was the Lions who got the 3-1 win on CU's home court.

Commerce is 17-6 with a 5-5 LSC mark heading into this contest with the Aggies. They are currently on a three match win streak, but only one of those came against and LSC opponent. They are second in hitting percentage (.207) in the LSC, first in assists per set (12.80), second in kills per set (13.65), and first in service aces per set (1.44).

Offensively, Jordan Neal leads the LSC and the team in assists per set with 11.65, and Amy Devault is second in conference with 3.49 kills per set. Devault also leads the team with 309 digs and Kayla Bond leads the team with .89 blocks per set.

Offensive Player of the Week
After recording 64 kills in three matches for the Cameron University team this past week Kelle Carver was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Lone Star Conference.

Carver was a force for Cameron in the last three matches, she record 64 total kills and averaged 5.33 kills per set, with a .345 hitting percentage. In 12 sets played she recorded one or less errors in eight of those sets and only had 14 total.

In her best match against Tarleton State on Oct. 26, Carver racked up 10 kills in a row before making her first error midway through the third set; it wouldn't be until set five before she would make another error. Carver would have 10 kills alone in set three and 27 kills total while committing two errors against the TexAnns. She would also have a robust .446 attack percentage.

This is Carver's second LSC honor, she was named offensive player of the week during the 2011 season.

Coming Up
After this last LSC weekend double header, the Aggies will host Northwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 5 and then will travel to Wichita Falls, Texas for a battle against rival Midwestern State on Nov. 9.
