#12 Aggies remain undefeated with 7-2 win over SNU

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University women’s tennis team won their first home match against Southern Nazarene University on Thursday afternoon, 7-2.

In doubles, the pairing of Amanda Moberg and Florencia Tornero fell 8-3 to their opponents in slot one, but Cameron took the other two doubles matches, with partners Julia Puckhaber and Laura Winter winning 8-3, and Elvira Sholles and Antonia Moberg taking their match 8-4.

The Aggies dominated their singles matches, winning all but one match. Amanda Moberg outplayed Southern Nazarene’s Masha Andrianova and won (6-4, 6-3), and Puckhaber won after three games scoring (3-6, 6-1, 6-1). In the number three slot for CU, Sholles fell (7-5, 7-5) to her opponent, but Tornero scored a (6-4, 6-5) win. Antonia Moberg also played a three game match winning (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) and Winter took her match (6-5, 5-4) after opponent Kimberly Wiedemann suffered an injury.

The women posted a 7-2 overall win and remain undefeated this season so far. They will head to Stephenville, Texas for their next event to face Tarleton State on Mar. 5.

The Aggie men’s tennis team will be competing Friday and Saturday, as they take on Colorado State-Pueblo at 9 a.m. and then Southwest Baptist at 2 p.m. on Friday. CU will then host East Central Oklahoma on Saturday at 9 a.m. This will be the first home matches for the #20 Cameron this season.
