LAWTON, Okla. – The #18 Aggie women’s tennis team earned their sixth 9-0 sweep of the season as they beat Texas A&M-Kingsville Monday afternoon at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex.
Cameron now jumps to 13-3 for the season and 1-2 in Lone Star Conference matches. The Javelinas fall to 1-7 on the season with a 0-4 LSC record.
The Aggies came out and won all three of the double matches, with the number one team of Amanda Moberg and Julia Puckhaber winning, 8-1. Since joining up ten matches ago, Moberg/Puckhaber are hold a perfect record as a team and they are ranked #15 in the ITA. The pairing of Florencia Tornero and Laura Winter got an 8-2 win over their Javelina counter parts, and the third pairing of Elvira Sholles and Antonia Moberg got a clean 8-0 win. The Moberg/Sholles pairing has won ten matches straight and they are 10-1 this season.
In singles, Am. Moberg won 6-3, 6-0 putting her at 13-3 for the season. Puckhaber’s win (6-1, 6-1) gives her a ten match winning streak and puts her season record at 15-1. Sholles won 6-1, 6-2 and Winter won 6-0, 6-2. In the fifth spot, Tornero beat her opponent 6-2, 6-0 and An. Moberg got a clean 6-0, 6-0 win out of the sixth spot.
Cameron will face a tough matchup on Thursday, April 4, as they will head to Abilene Christian to face the #5 ranked Wildcats. ACU had the ninth ranked singles player and fifth ranked doubles team in Division II.
