LAWTON, Okla. – Two days, two different results for the #18 Cameron University women's tennis team at the Cameron Quad held at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex on Friday and Saturday Morning. The Ags would dominate East Central to a 9-0 sweep on Friday but they would fall to #28 St. Mary's on Saturday, 7-2.
Against the Tigers on Friday morning, Cameron had to work in the one and three slots to get the 3-0 lead at the break. Amanda Moberg and Julia Puckhaber worked to an 8-4 win in ones, while Elvira Sholles and Antonia Moberg battled their Tiger counterparts to a 8-5 victory.
In singles, Cameron had no trouble with ECU only pushing one match to a fifth game. Puckhaber won her twelfth match in a row in the two slot, 6-0, 6-3.
On Saturday, Cameron got in a pair of battles in one and three doubles but the Rattlers would take all three slots. In one doubles, Amanda Moberg and Puckbaber rallied back from 7-4 to take the next two games but they would fall 8-6. A similar result happened in three doubles with Antonia Moberg and Laura Winter. They would pull within one game, 7-6, but would ultimately fall 8-6.
Down three heading into singles Cameron couldn't make up the gap winning only in two and four singles. Puckhaber make it 13 matches in a row with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Felicity Delgado in the two slot, while Sholles won 7-6, 4-6, 10-7 for her 13th win of the season.
The women's team will take the next few days off before traveling to Shawnee on April 6 to play Oklahoma Baptist.
