Scouting East Central
East Central enters the weekend with a 0-2 record after falling in Hawaii to Hawaii-Hilo. The Tigers in their two matches played are hitting the ball at .120 percent and averaging 10.4 kills per set. On the service line, ECU has 29 errors on 181 attempts, while only putting up 10 aces. Hayley Gerken is leading the Tigers with 12 kills and nine total blocks; Ashley Williams in another threat at the net for ECU with 11 kills and five total blocks.

The Tigers were selected sixth in the Great American Conference (GAC) Preseason Poll after a 2012 season where they finished with an overall record of 10-23 and 7-7 conference record.

Cameron and East Central don't a particularly long history with one-another, with this being their fifth match and first since 2010. In the modern era, CU has won two out of their last three matches over the Tigers and holds a 3-2 series lead.

Scouting Southeastern Oklahoma
Southeastern Oklahoma will enter the weekend with a 2-2 overall record, splitting their matches at Pittsburg State. The Savage Storm dropped matches to Rockhurst and Quincy, while beating Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State. Southeastern is averaging 10.9 kills per set and is hitting the ball at .130 clip. In their win against Missouri Southern, the Savage Storm racked up 12 service aces. Megan Kunkel is leading Southeastern with 64 kills, and is averaging 4.57 kills per set. On the defensive end, she is leading the team with 47 digs (3.36 per set)

The Savage Storm were picked eighth in the GAC Preseason Poll after finishing the 2012 season with a 5-28 overall record and 3-11 conference record.

Cameron played Southeastern last season at the Aggie Gym and swept the Savage Storm. The Aggies have won their last three matches against Southeastern and hold the series 25-4. All four wins have come at the result of five set matches; CU in sets played holds a 76-20 lead.

Scouting Northwestern Oklahoma
Northwestern Oklahoma is on year two after reviving their program after a 30 year absence. In their first year in the modern era, the Rangers finished with a 2-27 record, were winless (0-14) in the GAC. They were picked tied for last (10th) in the GAC Preseason Poll.

The Rangers have started the season 0-4, getting swept by New Mexico Highlands, Midwestern State, and Emporia State. As a team, the Rangers are averaging 9.2 kills per set, and have an attack percentage of .099. On the defensive side, Northwestern is averaging 13.2 digs per set, and four blocks per match.

Like the Aggies, Northwestern is young with 13 sophomore and freshman; they have no juniors (CU 2) and two seniors (CU 2) on the squad.

Cameron is 5-0 against the Rangers; however their last meeting was in 1980.

Scouting Southern Nazarene
Southern Nazarene is 1-3 heading into the Savage Storm-Tiger Classic, after their matches at the Midwestern State Hampton Inn-Vitational. They kicked it off with a 2-3 loss against New Mexico Highlands and then bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Eastern New Mexico. SNU lost their third game 0-3 against Emporia and then concluded with a 0-3 loss to Midwestern. On the 10th, they played in an exhibition game against St. Gregory's and won 3-0. SNU has tallied 10.8 kills per set with a .148 attack percentage. The Crimson Storm offense has been led by Taylor Jacobs who has had 52 kills in 14 sets with a .181 attack percentage. Setter, Kaylee Piatt has racked up 91 assists in the four game span, with 6.5 per set. Abbey Bell has recorded 47 digs, while Jacobs has added 45 digs, with Jamie Hope supplying 13 blocks for the SNU defense.

The Crimson Storm were picked fourth in the GAC preseason poll and have a good mix of experienced veterans and talented youth.

Youth Movement
Cameron enters the 2013 season with 14 sophomores and freshman on its squad. Half of that group saw major playing time last year for the Aggies which should pay dividends this year.

Picked Eighth
Cameron University Volleyball team was selected to place eighth in the Lone Star Conference with 62 points. West Texas A&M is a slight favorite to capture the Lone Star Conference title earning first-place votes on 12 of the 25 ballots for a total of 211 points. Angelo State, the reigning LSC Champions, was a close second with 10 first-place nods to finish with 208.

Texas Woman's was third with 161 points and the remaining three first-place votes, while Tarleton State was fourth (155), Texas A&M-Commerce fifth (113), and Texas A&M-Kingsville sixth (101).

Midwestern State (81), Cameron (62), and Eastern New Mexico (33) rounded out the poll.

Welcome Back Carver
After missing the 2012 season, Kelle Carver didn't miss much in her first weekend back on the court. She averaged 3.64 kills per set in four matches played and had 51 total kills. Carver's weekend was good enough to land her on the Henderson State All-Tournament Team.

The Freshman
Kayla Hebert in her first weekend recorded 145 assists and leaving the weekend led the Lone Star Conference. Hebert fired off her first career double-double, recording 48 assists and 22 digs against Southwest Baptist.

Hebert wasn't the only Aggie freshman to get a double-double, Maci Terrell added 10 kills and 13 digs against Southwest Baptist.

Kelsie Coplen also made a splash in her Aggie debut, tallying 34 digs with an attack percentage of .233, and adding 11 blocks during the four match stretch.

Coming Up
Cameron will open the Lone Star Conference season at home on Sept. 17 against Eastern New Mexico at 7 p.m. before hitting the road next weekend traveling to Tarleton State (Sept. 20) and Angelo State (Sept. 21).
