Volleyball Preview: Texas A&M-Kingsville

The opponent:
Texas A&M-Kingsville (17-11; 6-8 LSC): Nov. 8 @ 2 p.m. | Live Video | Live Stats

Around the LSC:  Both Friday and Saturday include four games involving Lone Star Conference teams. Friday Tarleton State heads to Angelo State, Midwestern State visits Kingsville, Texas Women's takes a trip to West Texas A&M, and Texas A&M-Commerce travels to Eastern New Mexico. On Saturday while the Aggies are taking on the Javilinas, TWU visits Eastern New Mexico, Texas A&M-Commerce travels to West Texas A&M, and Angelo State hosts non-conference opponent Lubbock Christian.

Looking back:  Last weekend, the Aggies split a pair of games, beating rival Midwestern State 3-1 at home on Friday, and then losing on the road to non-conference opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. Kat Evans led the charge against the Mustangs with 13 kills and 11 digs, while Kendra Adams and Rebecca Green added 11 apiece. Last time out against the Javelinas, Cameron swept the home match 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16). CU hit .195 in the match while TAMUK only hit .058 but had six more total blocks than the Aggies. Again, Evans led the attack with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Green and Cristina Viera both had 10 kills.

Looking forward: Depending on Saturday's match and how other programs fair, the Aggies can land as high as the number-six seed or miss the Lone Star Conference tournament next week.  If Midwestern State falls to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday night, the Aggies are in the postseason tournament.  A Texas A&M-Commerce split, Eastern New Mexico split, a Cameron loss, and a Midwestern State loss would knock MSU out of the top-eight, place A&M-C as the seven seed, ENMU as the six seed, and CU as the eight seed.  A Cameron win would put them in the tournament, and two ENMU losses, an A&M-C split, and a MSU loss would bump the Aggies to the number-six slot to play either Tarleton State or Angelo State.  If the Aggies slide into the number-eight seed they will play West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, and if CU ends up as the seven-seed they will face Texas Woman's.

On the horizon:  The Aggies will close out the regular season with a home non-conference match against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
