LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University men's and women's tennis teams will play a neutral site match with Cowley County Community College in Oklahoma City Thursday afternoon, starting at 1 pm.
For the Aggie men, this will be their third match of the spring and fourth overall this season they carry a 1-2 record into the match against the Tigers.
With their one win coming back in September against Oklahoma Baptist, the CU men have faced a tough slate to start out the spring. Their first match was a 7-0 loss to the #6 team in Division I, Baylor, and their second was a 6-1 loss to the University of Texas at Arlington. The lone point for the Aggies this spring came from
Rory de Boer win he beat UTA's Marek Pesicka 6-4, 6-3.
This will be the first official match of the year for the Cameron women, who enter with a #35 ranking in the ITA. Individually, freshman
Samantha Wood will enter ranked 14th in the South Central region and senior
Florencia Tornero enters ranked 19th. In doubles, the pairing of Wood and
Angie Torres will start with a regional ranking of 10th.
The match with Cameron will be the first contest of the spring season for both the Cowley men's and women's teams.
After the matches with Cowley County, both teams will head to Shawnee to take on Oklahoma Baptist University on Feb. 18.
