OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Cameron University took down Cowley College in both men's and women's tennis on Thursday afternoon in Oklahoma City.

This was the season debut for the number-35 ranked Aggie women who won 8-1 for their first win. In doubles competition the Aggie were pushed to a ninth game in the one and three slot but they would sweep Cowley and take a 3-0 lead into singles.

The Cameron women had no trouble individually by taking the two through six slots. Paula Gutierrez-Casas in her Aggie debut shut out Cowley's Erianne Adams 6-0, 6-0 in the three slot, while Samantha Wood won convincingly in the two slot 6-1, 6-3.

On the men's side the number-15 ranked Aggies had to battle from a 2-1 hole and edged out the Tigers 5-4 for their second win of the season.

Cameron (2-2) dropped their matches in one and two doubles 9-8 but Rory de Boer and Dean Weigelt prevented a Cowley sweep by winning 8-2 in the three slot.

In singles the Ags relied on the bottom half of their order by getting win in slots three though six. Weigelt was the only Cameron player to win twice by winning his singles match 6-2, 6-0.

Both teams will return to action on Feb. 18 at Oklahoma Baptist.
