WACO, Texas – The Cameron University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to #6 Baylor on Friday in their spring opener at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. 

Cameron (1-1) played behind from the start after the Ags number-1 and 3 pairings fell allowing BU to take the 1-0 lead into singles competition. 

The Aggies dropped all their first sets across the board in singles and would ultimately get swept; Joao Fazendeiro in the five slot would take set two 6-4 before losing in a tiebreaker and Dennis Merdan battled back from a set one shutout took four games in set two against Julian Lenz the number-2 ranked singles player nationally in Division I.

"It was totally different conditions compared to what we are used to with playing inside," said head coach James Helvey.  "Baylor had four matches before playing us today with an opportunity to play for last month; despite what the final score was we played well as a group and got stronger as the match went on."

On Saturday, the Ags will face UT-Arlington for an outdoor match at noon.
