BETHANY, Okla. -- The Cameron University women's tennis team will start Lone Star Conference play with a perfect 9-0 record after taking down Southern Nazarene 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
With league play starting on Sunday at Texas A&M Kingsville the Aggies are off to their best start in the last four seasons.
Against the Crimson Storm the Ags nearly pulled of a doubles sweep but
Paula Gutierrez-Casas and
Florencia Tornero would fall at the one slot in a tiebreaker 9-8(5).
Magdalena Kovinic and
Antonia Moberg in the three slot pulled off a sweep, 8-0, against the SNU counterparts.
In singles, Cameron's only blemish came in the one slot but they would take slots two through six for the 7-2 match win. Moberg and Tornero earned 6-0, 6-0 sweeps for the Ags;
Samantha Wood (9-0) remained undefeated in singles competition after a 6-0, 7-5 win in the three slot.
Cameron's trip to Kingsville on Sunday will be their first since the 2012 season.
