LAWTON, Okla. – The #16 Cameron men's tennis team came out on the winning end of a close 5-4 match on Tuesday against #35 Southwest Baptist at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex.
One day removed from their first home loss in over two years the Aggies prevailed in singles to take the match over the ranked SBU team.
For the second day in a row the Aggies fell behind 2-1 after doubles. Cameron's lone victory came in the three slot with
Dennis Merdan and
Joao Fazendeiro coming away with the 8-4 win.
In singles the Aggies would fall in the top two slots forcing the bottom half of the CU lineup to rally back for the win.
Victories in the four, five, and six slot evened the match with Southwest Baptist with
Felipe Oyarzun on the remaining court to decide the winner.
Oyarzun edged out a set one 7-6 win before taking the match in set two 6-4 from SBU's Chris Blodig to give Cameron the win.
With the victory the Aggies move to 13-5 overall, they will host BYU-Hawaii on Wednesday in continued action at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex.
