LAWTON, Okla. -- Cameron's match with Tarleton State came down to the wire but it would be the #36 Aggies taking down the #26 TexAnns 5-4 at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
The win for Cameron moves to them to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, Tarleton State fell to 11-3 overall and 0-1 in the LSC.
A 2-1 lead out of doubles proved to be the controlling factor at the end of the day with both teams splitting singles play.Â
Cameron came out with wins in the one and two doubles slot with the pairing of
Paula Gutierrez-Casas /
Florencia Tornero and
Angie Torres /
Samantha Wood coming away with 8-6 wins.
In singles Gutierrez-Casas flew through a 6-1, 6-1 win in the two slot but three set matches in the four and six slots helped tip the balance on Tuesday.
Tornero battled from a 3-6 loss in the first set and took sets two and three 6-3 and 6-1 to even the match at four.Â
Antonia Moberg also had to battle after winning set one 6-4, she would fall 3-6 in set two; a 6-3 victory in the third set would push Cameron to the important league win.
Cameron will return to action on Thursday to face Southwest Baptist.Â
