LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron tennis teams cruised to a pair of wins on Friday afternoon against UT-Permian Basin with the CU men coming up with the 9-0 sweep and the women winning 7-2.
Cameron's sweep on the men's side was their first of the season and their first since Mar. 17, 2013 at Glendale College.
Angelo Lencioni blew through a 6-0, 6-0 singles sweep in the three-slot and
Dean Weigelt quietly has moved to 16-2 this season after a 6-1, 6-1 win against Mateus Munhoz in the five-slot.
On the women's side, the Aggies took the match advantage out of doubles after taking the top two slots.
In singles, Cameron made quick work of the Falcons after sweeping the top five slots for the match victory. Both
Florencia Tornero and
Samantha Wood moved to 20-5 in singles play with wins on Friday afternoon. Tornero took her fifth match in a row the four-slot, 6-1, 6-2; while Wood won her seventh in a row, 6-1, 6-2 in her three-singles match.
Paula Gutierrez moved to 17-5 in singles play and she also has won five in row after a 6-1, 6-1 win in the two-slot.
With the win the Aggie men move to 17-8 overall to conclude their regular season and will await a possible bid from the NCAA for regionals.
The Cameron women will go to 17-5 this season and they will wrap up their regular season on Monday to face Seminole State.
