LAWTON, Okla. -- For the second year in a row the #21 Cameron University men's tennis team will play in the round of 16 at the NCAA Tennis Championships on Wednesday where they will face #4 Concordia (N.Y.) 4 p.m. in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The Aggies are on their nineteenth NCAA postseason appearance and took their second straight South Central Regional Title after beating Western New Mexico on May 5 in Lawton. Despite the second trip in a row to nationals, CU has yet to win in the round of 16 and advance to the quarterfinals.
Standing in CU's way will be the Concordia Clippers who are 19-4 overall this season winning the East Regional title over Merrimack 5-0 in Flushing, N.Y. The Clippers were the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Champions beating Chestnut Hill College 5-0 for their fifth straight league title.
Last season, Concordia reached the final four falling to the 2013 National Champions, Barry (Fl.) 5-0 in Surprise, Ariz.
Additionally, the match with the Clippers was selected by the NCAA to be broadcasted online on NCAA.com. The championship which is hosted by the Sunshine State Conference will provide live stats for all 16 matches in the tournament and they can be found on the schedule tab of CameronAggies.com
