Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron's effort was there but they couldn't hold on late in a five set (20-25, 25-14, 14-25, 25-23, 14-16) thriller against Tarleton State on Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Gym.

"This was part of the process of learning how to win matches against good teams," said head coach
Qi Wang. "At the end of the day we had a chance but mistakes cost us late. Our effort was there this afternoon but again we couldn't finish the match."

Both teams on the court fought back after dropping sets and at the end of the day Cameron rallied back from a 14-9 TSU lead in set five and knocked five unanswered points to even the set at 14 each. Cameron took the ball with a chance to go-ahead but a service error would give the late lead to TSU and eventually the win.

Cameron's comeback attempt rallied around
Paige Holt and
Kat Evans who combined for 26 kills and only five errors; Holt went untouchable until late in the fifth set before committing an error.

On the defensive end, CU had five individuals with double-figure digs;
Kayla Hebert and
Shannon DuLaney paced the Ags with 16 each. Â
Rebecca Green chipped in seven kills but was a force at the net with eight block assists.

At the service line, Cameron kept TSU guessing throughout the afternoon and obtained eight aces;
Cristina Viera led both teams on the floor with four.

For Tarleton State, Hailey Roberts led TSU with 16 kills, while Kenya Alexander and Kaitlyn White both added 13 each.

Cameron led the way with 78 digs, four more than TSU, while blocks were even; Tarleton took attack percentage at .196, while CU had a .118 as a team.

The loss for Cameron is their twenth in a row in Lone Star Conference play and drops them to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in league play; Tarleton State climbs up to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the LSC.

Cameron will return to the Aggie Gym on Tuesday, Sept. 16 for a non-conference match with Southeastern Oklahoma at 7 p.m.
