Looking back:  In week five of the season, the Cameron volleyball team now sits at 13-1 overall and 4-1 in LSC play after defeating Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Commerce but falling to Texas Woman's.   The Aggies began the week on Sept. 29 with a comeback victory over Eastern New Mexico in five sets (22-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-15, 15-9). Freshman Jenna Gillean led the Aggies with a career high 17 kills and a .389 attacking percentage. Senior Kat Evans followed up with 12 kills and 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the year. Sophomore Cristina Viera contributed 18 digs, while freshman Tori Luckenbill had 43 assists for the Ags.

Cameron followed up with a sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce (25-14, 25-18, 25-20) on Oct. 2. Evans and Gillean led the CU offense, each notching eight kills. Additionally, Gillean had a team high attacking percentage of .412. Luckenbill contributed 22 assists to the Aggies, and Viera led the Black and Gold defense with 15 digs. Cameron would fall the next day, Oct. 3, to Texas Woman's (19-25, 25-20, 19-25, 20-25). Evans recorded her ninth double-double of the year by contributing eleven kills and 16 digs for the Ags. Gillean followed up with ten kills, and freshman Kayla Allen had nine. Luckenbill recorded 25 assists on the match, while Viera led the Black and Gold defense with 22 digs.

Cracking the poll: Thanks to a 13-1 start, the Aggies have made their first appearance in the AVCA Coaches Poll in over a decade with five votes.  Angelo State, Tarleton State, and Texas Woman's join CU as the LSC teams in the poll getting votes.

Setting the stage: The 2007 season was the last time that an Aggie team won at either Tarleton State or Angelo State with present history slanted toward the opposition this weekend.  Against the TexAnns, Cameron has dropped their last 11 matches and have only won two sets in their last four visits to Stephenville.  Cameron does hold the overall series 24-14 with TSU holding at 6-7 record at home.

The trip to San Angelo will be a reunion for head coach Qi Wang who was ASU's top assistant from 2009-13 before leaving for CU.  Coach Wang and the Aggies will have to reverse as 12 match skid and the Aggies are 4-10 in San Angelo.  In conference play, CU is 1-20 overall with their lone win coming in 2007.

The Friday and Saturday matches will be important for a young CU squad with the all three teams appearing in this week's AVCA coaches poll.
