SHAWNEE – The Cameron men hung on and defeated Oklahoma Baptist 5-4 to remain perfect in three matches this season.
Tuesday's match was closer than their previous meeting with the Bison this last fall where the Aggies won 7-2 at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex.
Cameron who has struggled in doubles for the last year, took a 2-1 advantage heading in the intermission with wins in the one and three slots. Including individual doubles play in the fall, Cameron is 9-12, while holding a 35-21 overall singles record; in duel play CU is 11-1.
Dennis Merdan and
Andres Velasco defeated OBU's Daniel Aguilera and Luis Romero, 8-6, while
Angelo Lencioni and
Felipe Oyarzun took an 8-1 win over Thomas Ankernecht and Patrick Sims.
However, the Aggies would manage a split in singles with
Joao Fazendeiro winning in the two slot, 6-4, 6-4 for this eleventh overall singles win of the season.
Angelo Lencioni took the five slot, 6-1, 6-4, and
Felipe Oyarzun won in the six slot, 6-2, 6-3.
The Aggie men will play next on Feb. 19-20 in Plano, Texas against Collin County CC and Tyler JC.
