SHAWNEE – Strong doubles paved the way for the Cameron women to a 6-3 win at Oklahoma Baptist to open their spring season on Tuesday.

The Aggies would get wins in all three doubles slots and only needed to win two in singles play for overall match win. 

In the two doubles slot it was all Angie Torres and Magdalena Kovinic who swept their match 8-0.   However, things were not as easy for Samantha Wood and Dejana Veljic who squeaked by with a 9-8 match win in the three slot.

The middle of the singles line up for CU gave the Lady Bison all the trouble with wins in the three through five slots.   Eugenia Sanchez won in the five slot 6-3, 6-0, and Wood dominated her match by only dropping two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win; Wood in 25-8 in two seasons at Cameron.   Magdalena Kovinic also came up with a victory in the four slot, 6-1, 6-4.

Cameron will return home to face Southern Nazarene on Feb. 23.
