Early runs give Aggies their third win in a row

MIDLAND, Texas – A pair of big innings gave the Aggies enough of an edge to beat out Texas-Permian Basin 8-5 on Friday night.

Matt Nilmeyer gave the Aggies three runs and two RBI, and Tyler Cook added a pair of RBI.  Codey Upton went five innings on the mound with five runs and four strikeouts to earn his second win of the season.  Jordan Dailey, Jake Winters, and Logan Fanning all came out of the bullpen with clean innings tossed.

The Aggies out-slugged the Falcons by one with ten hits.

Cameron quickly jumped out to a three run lead with Nilimeyer hitting a RBI triple to score Nate Hale, Cook followed up with a ground ball out to score Nilimeyer.   Cody Knight added to the scoring with a RBI double.

UTPB responded back with a pair in the bottom half of the inning before the Aggies scored a run from Russ Colgan in the third.  However, the Falcons came back with two in the fourth to tie the game at four each.

The seesaw battle continued on more time in the next frame were CU would put a three spot on the scoreboard getting three runs off of UTPB miscues to take a three run lead.

Both teams would add a run but the Aggies would move to 5-4 overall while Texas-Permian Basin will fall to 8-3.

The win was Cameron's third in a row and they will come back to play UTPB on Saturday for a doubleheader.
