LAWTON – Cameron held off a charge from Southeastern Oklahoma to win 5-4 on Wednesday.
At the beginning of the day the number-31 Aggie women's tennis team was slated to play in Durant but morning snow forced the matches to be played in Lawton in an unexpected home opener. Â
However with limited action this spring the Aggies had to battle at home against the Savage Storm who would take a 2-1 advantage leaving doubles play. Cameron was able to put together an 8-6 win in the top doubles slot under with
Paula Gutierrez and
Eugenia Sanchez coming through.
In singles play, it would be the top of the Aggies lineup that would bail them out with dominate wins in the one through four slots. Â Â Both
Angie Torres and
Samantha Wood swiftly won 6-0, 6-1;
Paula Gutierrez handled Alexsandra Relijic 6-3, 6-2 in the top singles slot, and
Magdalena Kovinic won 6-3, 6-1 in the four slot.
The win was Cameron second of the season; Southeastern Oklahoma falls to 3-1.
Weather permitting on Friday; the Aggies will play at McMurry University.Â
