LAWTON – The number-20 ranked Cameron men's tennis team will open their spring slate with Cowley College for a neutral site meeting in Edmond on Tuesday.
Cameron (1-0) had a sip of coffee in the fall with a 7-2 win over Oklahoma Baptist in Lawton before ITA Regionals, while Cowley (5-3) who is fourth nationally at the Junior College level will play twice this spring before facing the Aggies. The Tigers lost 7-2 to Newman on Sunday and they will face Southwestern Christian on Tuesday morning prior to facing CU.
The Aggies will face some talent with four singles players inside the top-34 nationally, led by Erik Eldagsen Marquez who is at number-11. Cameron will counter with
Joao Fazendeiro who ended the fall season on a tear with a runner-up finish at the ITA Regionals, and he is ranked number-41 in NCAA Division II.
The match with Cowley will be CU's only action of the week, they will play next on Feb. 17 at Oklahoma Baptist.
