DALLAS, Texas – The #31 Cameron women's tennis had a rough day on the court, falling 8-1 to #16 St. Mary's in Dallas on Thursday afternoon.
St. Mary's is the top ranked team in the South Central Region and played CU on at a neutral site. Additionally, Thursday's meeting was rematch of last year's NCAA South Central Regional where Cameron fell last season to the Rattlers 5-0.
The Aggies didn't fare as well this season against SMU after they would take all three doubles slots. Cameron's closest match came out of the three slot with
Samantha Wood and
Dejana Veljic falling 8-4.
In singles, Cameron avoided a straight sweep by SMU with Wood picking up a 6-2, 6-1 win in the three slot.
The loss is CU's first of the season and they will go to 4-1 overall.
Cameron will quickly return to action on Friday and host East Central at 1 p.m.
